Advent

A Season of Preparation

December 2007

"Advent" comes from the Latin word adventus, which means coming---
A time to reflect on the coming of Christ at Christmas and at the end of time.

During Advent, the Gloria is omitted.
The priest wears violet vestments, except on the third Sunday,
when rose-colored vestments are used.

The Advent Wreath has a candle for each Sunday of Advent,
representing Peace, Hope, Joy and Love.

Fr. Jeff presided at the 11 o'clock mass on December 2.

The DuBois family lit the first advent candle.

Gifts for needy families are placed under the Advent Angel Tree.

The angels identify specific gift needs.

The Youth Group was in the Rotunda after all Masses on December 1 & 2.
They asked us to fill Santa hats with spare change. The money
will provide Christmas gifts for the moms and children at Life’s Choices.

The Knights of Columbus are also asking for toys for needy families.
