Habitat for Humanity - Project 2

Kickoff Meeting

August 23, 2007

Pete Ablondi and Wayne Thresher have volunteered to be the Coordinators
for St. Cecilia Parish in the second Habitat for Humanity project.
Peter will handle the "paper chase."
Wayne will be involved with the construction.

The project will be done by several churches -- a "Circle of Faith."
The lead church is First Church in Monson. Others include
First Church in Ludlow, Epiphany and St. Cecilia in Wilbraham,
Second Congregational Church in Palmer and the
Unitarian Church in Monson. Other churches may join.

Our home will be a 3 or 4 bedroom "basic" ranch house costing
about $90K - $100K. It will be on Palmer Road in Monson, near
the previous Habitat house, shown here in a file photo.
There is space for a third home to be built in the future.

Groundbreaking cannot begin until at least $60K in cash
or materials has been committed.

Wayne has volunteered to asist Jim Haynes of First Church, Monson, for this
home construction. JIm and Wayne will be running the home building
site under the supervision of John Femands, Director of Construction
for the Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity area.

On the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, sign-up sheets for volunteers will be
available in the church. About 35 people have already signed up to help.

Fr. Soranno opened the meeting with a prayer:

"Open our eyes that we may see our world as you see it,
So that we may not ignore those without a decent
and safe home in which to live."

Habitat was selected as one of six H.O.P.E. ministries to expand parish
support to the community around us. This is the first Habitat project
since the H.O.P.E. program began.

Fund raising will take place in September -- Check the weekly bulletin for details.
