Excerpt from "History of Wilbraham"
Father Hart was succeeded by Rev. Michael Carroll who established the custom of having pastor and curate alternate in saying Mass on Sundays in Wilbraham. Father Carroll encouraged volunteer workers who directed to choir, taught Sunday school and took care of the sacristy. For awhile mens and womens clubs raised money for repairs and other essentials. In 1921 a mission was conducted at St. Cecilias Church by the Diocesan Missionary Band. For the mission a confessional was built. Up to this time the penitent had knelt beside the priest with only a screen between them. With the help of parishioners, Father Carroll arranged kitchen facilities for the convenience of the ladies who put on church suppers. One of the choicest gifts made to the church at this time was the St. Cecilia Memorial Window which is now in the chapel of the second church. The donors of the window which depicts St. Cecilia, the patroness of the church, playing on a musical instrument were Mrs. John Baldwin, Sr. and her daughter, Mrs. C. W. Weeks. It was installed over the altar by Alphonsus Boylan.
