The Greater Springfield Habitat For Humanity brings families who need housing together with people that can provide help. Volunteers help build or rehabilitate simple homes and then provide the financing so families can afford to buy their own homes. Habitat charges no interest and makes no profit. Our parish will join other churches in a circle of faith, to raise money and to build a home. The homeowner will put 250 hours of "sweat equity" into building their home.

Heifer International is a non-profit humanitarian organization dedicated to ending world hunger and saving the earth. Heifer provides livestock, trees, training and other resources to help poor families around the globe become more self-reliant. Recipients of a Heifer animal promise to share an offspring of this animal to a neighbor in need thus extending the reach of hope. Through a variety of Heifer activities, funds will be raised to purchase animals that are given to impoverished families in any of 125 countries. This will start a chain of giving that often touches thousands of lives.

Help For Haiti--- A desire was indicated in the parish survey to have an international outreach. In the spirit of HOPE, God has been planting the seeds for an involvement by the people of Saint Cecilia in Haiti. Haiti has been selected because it is the poorest country in the western hemisphere closest to the United States. Now more than ever, Haiti needs our help. By means of a core group, an ongoing study will research various ways of reaching out to our brothers and sisters in Haiti.

Hope at Home --- assisting parishioners who find themselves in temporary financial difficulty. Hope at Home would be able to assist a parishioner in need of fuel, food, rent or medical expenses on a temporary basis. While we are aware of our responsibility to assist our brothers and sisters around the world, we are also called to work “at home” for the needs of our own brothers and sisters right here in the Parish. Donations are being accepted for this ministry if you wish to make a contribution. The allocation of funds to parishioners in need will depend on the monies on hand. We will use 100% of the money to help those among us who, especially in these difficult economic times, need a financial helping hand. Your support to our brothers and sisters in the Parish is greatly appreciated. All requests for assistance will be handled with confidentiality.
